Emily McCarthy

Emily McCarthy joined Student Engagement & Career Development in August 2020 after leading Northern Arizona University (NAU) Career Development from April 2013 to August 2020, growing the scope and reach of the team significantly over that time and partnering with stakeholders across NAU to integrate career education into the academic and co-curricular experience. Emily led the establishment of a campus-wide Student Employment program grounded in the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) Career Readiness competencies, and also led the first implementation of Handshake in the state of Arizona in 2015.

Prior to NAU, Emily spent 14 years in private sector and non-profit human resources development and organizational change management roles, at CSC, Booz Allen Hamilton, and The MITRE Corporation. Emily believes in the importance of identifying one's strengths, interests, and values and using that knowledge to make informed career decisions. Outside of work, Emily enjoys travel to places near and far and spending time with her friends, family, significant other, and two cats.
